American Heart Association CPR Course

Below are several dates and times for summer CPR classes. Due to the flexibility of summer hours we have scheduled classes for a variety of days and times to better serve busy summer schedules.

Part Year Employees: You are welcome to take CPR courses over the summer, however you will not be paid for the hours you are in class. The hours will, however, be counted towards continuing education.

When choosing a date, please sign up for the course that is closest to your expiration date. Classes must be full to remain on schedule. Dates and times are subject to change.

Logistics:

This class is offered according to the guidelines set by the American Heart Association and our training center Dean / St. Mary’s Healthworks which is who grants us permission to hold and oversee the operations of the courses.  If you are required* or are interested in joining any of the classes please fill out the registration form, sign and return or fax (275-6756) to Sara Bossingham, Training Coordinator before the listed due date.  You will be sent a confirmation of your registration, however it is recommended that you make note of the date and time you are registered for.

If you registration is received by the due date we will lend you a text book 1 week prior to the class, which you will need to read before the training.  Classes are highly structured and are led by the video so having read the text will help you be better prepared for practice and testing.  Please bring the book to your class and return it at the conclusion of the training.  If you’re interested in purchasing a book, bring a check made out to DCPC in the amount of $9.50 to your class.

Be prepared to spend a majority of the class on the floor working on mannequins — In order to pass this class, students must be able to pass skills testing done on the floor.  Classes start promptly at the scheduled time and participants who arrive more that 10 minutes late will not be allowed to stay AND he / she will be required to pay the registration fee of $40.  Also please read the signing statement at the bottom of the registration form carefully and be sure to call Sara (274-3702) with any questions before returning it.  These parameters are required of us by Dean/St. Mary’s Healthworks.

*Licensing requires all persons working directly with children be certified in CPR; including but not limited to Teachers, Teacher Aides / Assistants, Center Aides, Transportation Specialists, FOWs and Site Directors.
